About Me
Christine Cougan-Schram, Licensed Massage Therapist is the owner/operator of Loosen Up Massage Therapy. She is a December 2008 graduate of the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage in Syracuse, NY. At OSTM, she completed 1000 hours of study in Myology, Pathology, Anatomy & Physiology and several massage modalities. Currently, she is NYS licensed and will be nationally certified in the coming year.
Christine's background includes 2+ years working as a Chiropractic Assistant which was an influence in her decision to become a massage therapist. "Seeing so many people hurting and dependent on pain killing drugs affected me. I knew with my passion for massage, that I could help them naturally", she states. But her main influence for becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist was seeing just how much her mother responded to touch during her final stages of life. "Putting my hands on my mom and giving her light touch really made me understand just how powerful touch can be. Mom would relax and seem very serene during those moments".
Christine is also furthering her education toward her certification in Orthopedic Massage, training with world renowned Orthopedic Massage Therapist, James Waslaski http://www.orthomassage.net
She is also an active member of The American Massage Therapy Association.
Loosen Up Massage Therapy is based on the belief that the customers' needs are of the utmost importance. Christine is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of her business is from repeat customers and referrals. Christine prides herself with connecting with the client mind, body & spirit. Her belief is that healing is an entire body process.
Christine's personal mantra for each session is this: "bless the work of my hands and the intentions of my heart" in hopes that every client leaves the session feeling renewed.
